Good Bye 2009

As 2009 is coming to an end,I look back at it very gracefully.Professionally the best year till date.2009 had kept me busy all throught out the year except for June wherein I didnot travel anywhere. If there were no official tours,I was making a trip to my house atleast once in a month unlike Malanjkhand from where coming to my house was a herculean task as I was able to come once in six months to my house.
A year far more satisfying as the year started with me getting into BARC and ending with my official training at IISc-the two big names in Science and technology.

Government Posting

There are a million aspirants for government postings in India because of the security it provides. When anyone enters into a government service, one is sure to find out few kith and kin of the fellow colleagues working in the same organisation. For eg,I was astonsihed to see the father, daughter and son in law working in the same AMD.It really hurts me because the thousand others who have applied for the same post are made fools.
Competition should by all means reflect it's meaning.
Is this pity situation because of the government policies...or is this because of the mediocre thinking of the below average human being.
Whatever it is, the loopholes in the recruitment of all the governmet organisations must be mended otherwise prosperity will be beyond the reach and sight of the common man who has blind faith that sometime some good thing will happen in his life.

Universal gas constant

Many times I have asked myself what is universal gas constant which I have been studying for so many years.

During my school days,I used to mug up the value of the value of Universal gas constant because the units are sure to be as one question in objective type.So...

During my school days it was like:

R=8.314 J/mol/K

R=1.987 cal/mol/K.

Oh! I need to mug up the unit...OK...J/mol/K...Cal/mol/K...In my exams, atlast I used to get confused and mark wrong answer!!!

I used to think in my mind why people have discovered so many units(SI,CGS etc.) just to confuse everyone....especially students....

Universal gas constant doesn't end with school.Infact it is the beginning...

In college as I had taken Chemical Engg(Without even being now aware of what the subjects are!),So universal gas constant was bound to continue...

Aarthi,my teacher during my B.Tech days with whose help I have just passed...just passed many exams... used to teach so many chemical Engg. subjects especially problems. So she used to say Ok,then...

"In this problem you have to put the value of R and 2-3 Eqns.S the problem is solved...."

After a gap of so many years...R is still not leaving me...

Now as a Scientific Officer,my HOD asks me, " why don't you calculate the enthalpy of Pyrite oxidation and Free energy of Uranium oxidation".

Myself:Ok,Sure sir!

Next...Going to the library to search Enthalpy, entropy and gibb's free energy.

Accidently I come across R once again. As the book(Moore's Chemical Metallurgy) was interesting and teaching me all the basics,I got to know what finally R is :

For gases, molar heat capacity is found to vary i.e.value of Molar Heat capacity of gases at Consant Pressure vary from Molar Heat capacity of gases at Consant Volume and this variation is found to be almost constant for all gases and that is why it is called as Universal Gas constant and is also equal to Cp-Cv.
That is the reason why it is called
Universal as it is applicable to most of the gases
Gas as it is applicabe to gases
Constant as the value is almost found to be constant.
Eureka!Atlast I found it.Like this, there are so many questions in my mind.If I find answers,I definitely will write them.

After a long gap...

Yesterday after a long gap my friend gave me Kumudam from one of the fellow passengers in the Charminar train. After my post B.Tech days,my brother practised me the habit of reading Ananda Vikatan and I started enjoying it.But when in 2007 I had to go to Malanjkhand,I was totally cut of from reading this weekly magazine-A magazine which had taught me so many things in my life.

Now having read a similar magazine(Kumudam) yesterday had brought me back the memories of my yesteryears and gave me great satisfaction.

IRONY OF LIFE

I had spent one year and nine months in Malanjkhand which is supposed to be a jungle compared to a city like Hyderabad where I presently work.I also frequently visit Jharkhand for my official purpose.
Somethings are really ironic in life. One such thing happened yesterday in my office at Hyderabad.

In both these places(Malanjkhand and Jharkhand) I've not seen two big snakes fighting with each other.Such a seen I was able to see at Hyderabad only.Probably snakes also prefer cities!!!

Hyderabad-City of Colourful Gulmohar flowers.

Hyderabad-My job's new found location.Because of my education I had been visiting so many places in India-Delhi,Mumbai,Kolkata,Assam,Jharkhand,Madhya Pradesh,Bhopal,Nagpur to name a few and at present I'm housed at Begumpet,Andhra Pradesh.Though initially I didnot like the place,as days passed, almost five months,I have slowly tried to accomodate myself in the new place(Minimum time duration for me to accomodate to a new place is one year).Hyderabad to me is a city of gulmohars-As gulmohars of different colours are there wherever I go whether it's my PG,office or in the Dwaraka's colony park where I go for walking occassionally. So my new found friend to share, is the Gulmohar tree which its huge branches and colourful flowers. Its been very pleasant to gaze at the beautiful and aesthetic gulmohar flowers as they give peace to the wandering heart.

SCRAPING X CLASS EXAMS

The proposal to scrap the X class boardexams as far as I'm concerned is one of the most important moves. It will give a big blow to the tuition centres which are minting money in the name of coaching and a big relief from children who will be pressurised to excel in the exams both from their parents and teachers.Mr.Kapil Sibal must also ensure that a lot of vocational subjects are included in the curriculum so that students can have an idea of an industry or a research life.
There must be as many practical classes as possible so that Indian children will be enriched in knowledge.
Education should give more importance to values, the Indian culture and at the same time be world class.Children must also be taught in such a way that they can enjoy their childhood to the fullest extent possible.
Above all quality education must no longer remain a distant dream for the underprivileged children.
Will the present government look into all these features?

Shameful Act

In our country ,throwing shoes at politicians these days have become a casual occurence in public meetings or press conferences.
The first one was aimed at Mr.P.Chidambaram.Though I was indifferent in the beginning,my mother told me that in the US,shoes were thrown at Bush, not by a non-American."But look at the condition of India wherein one amongst us had did this shameful act."
Only then I realised what a shameful act has happened in our country.
But did it stop there? Two more such incidents followed this: One at Mr.Advani and the other was attempted by not so good college student for the sake of mere publicity at the PM himself?
Where are heading as a nation is a real big ?

NO LUCK FOR MUNNABHAI

"NO LUCK FOR MUNNABHAI" had been the Times of India Headlines on April 1st or for that matter the tag for previous day for news about Sanjay Dutt on CNN-IBN.

I really don't understand how the welleducated journalists used the word "luck" in this context as contesting in elections should never be one's luck. This is the unfortunate state of Indian Politics.

Munnabhai didnot get the privilege to contest the elections as he was sentenced to six years imprionment by the Mumbai anti terror court under the Arms Act in connection with 1993 Mumbai blasts and was disqualified from contesting the elections under the Section 8 (3) of the Representation of People Act,. and it is not that for no reason at all he was not allowed.

As per electoral laws, a person convicted for a criminal offence and sentenced to jail for more than two years is barred from running for elections.

But for people like me such debarrings is one of the pleasant news to hear.

FACING THE ELECTIONS-JAI HO!!!

Yesterday's CNN-IBN "FACING THE ELECTIONS" had thrown light upon the independent candidates contesting in the elections. The two most impressing candidates are "Ms.Mallika Sarabhai and Ms.Meera Sanyal".Ms. Meera Sanyal is currently the Country Head of ABN-Amro Bank.I feel really happy to see the women in such a position in India.I wish from the deep of my heart that these persons win the elections so that Indian politics can be redefined.Jai Ho to both of them.

FAREWELL PARTY AT MALANJKHAND

I was given three farewell parties at Malanjkhand...

My official farewell at the Chartola Club was really very emotional and it will remain as one of the most important events in my life especially the GM Bhatoa sir's speech in praise of me, is a real rejuvenating tonic whenever I feel sick and tired about life.Perseverance pays...

The other farewell party by my team was a picnic arranged exclusively for me in which I was gifted a watch. In a span of one year and nine months,I've been fortunate enough to go to three picnic spots along with my then team-One to mukhi on the outskirts of Kanha National Park, second one to Bharumdev which is yet another in Chhattisgarh border and the last one had been the place where a particular river originates(The river name exactly I don't remember).
The last farewell was at my office. It was an official one.All the three farewell parties will remain as pleasant memories.

MISSING MALANJKHAND

Malanjkhand always has a special place in my heart.Though I was the only girl at Malanjkhand as my dear Soma flies to her hometown quiet often,I was taken care of the most.I was treated special in many ways.I was taken care so that I don't feel alone. So 2 anyplace in the world I go,I find it hard 2 accomadate my place for Malanjkhand had been the place wherein people showered so much love, affection.I had laughed, cried, been happy and sad.
I really miss Malanjkhand from the core of my heart.
